Resource: Evidence-based actions to end online child sexual exploitation and abuse
The internet is a way for children to access education and knowledge, to maintain social connections and to have a creative outlet. But these opportunities continue to be undermined by a serious risk of harm: data from 13 countries show that up to 20 per cent of 12–17-year-olds had experienced online sexual exploitation and abuse in a period of just one year. Scaled to the general population, this represents millions of children being sexually exploited or abused.
Disrupting Harm research suggests that most online sexual exploitation and abuse happens on social media platforms. Disrupting Harm evidence provides recommendations for government, civil society and parents, with a focus on creating change within child protection systems nationally and globally. |

You’re Invited! Webinar: Good practices in using law to keep children safe
Developing and strengthening legal protections for safeguarding children and the means to enforce them, is a prudent step in preventing violence against children. This seminar will showcase good practices and lessons learned on engaging with governments in Argentina and South Africa.
This event will take place via Zoom on the 10th of December, 2024. |
