Opportunity: Senior Technical Advisor –VPPIC Programme
The position is embedded within the Violence Prevention for Peaceful and Inclusive Communities (VPPIC) Programme, a German technical cooperation initiative emphasizing on early intervention, particularly in early childhood development (ECD) and caregiving environments within the violence prevention sector. The programme seeks to foster a multi-stakeholder and systemic approach to enhance the structural conditions necessary for evidence-informed, gender-relevant early violence prevention interventions across South Africa.
The Senior Technical Advisor (STA) will lead efforts to achieve the programme’s objectives, particularly around Output 3, which is Institutional Capacity Building. Event Reminder: First Global Ministerial Conference on Ending Violence Against Children
Convened by the
Government of Colombia, with the support of the
Government of Sweden, UNICEF, the
United Nations Special Representative of the Secretary-General on Violence against Children, and the
World Health Organization, this Ministerial Conference will drive policy change, marshal resources and demonstrate that violence prevention is possible. Ministerial delegations – along with children, young people, survivor and civil society allies – will unite behind a shared and bold vision to deliver an end to all forms of violence against children.
The Sustainable Development Goals commit the global community to end all forms of violence against children. Now, past the halfway point to the 2030 deadline, violence remains a reality for half the world’s children. The futures of one billion boys and girls hang in the balance. Over the course of two full days, the Conference will provide a highest-profile platform for showcasing national progress, announcing new commitments and amplifying diverse voices. Participants will convene – and pledge toward – priority child protection themes. |

Researchers and practitioners are increasingly able to measure, prevent and respond to violence against children (VAC) in homes, schools, workplaces and communities, supported by a growing global commitment as part of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (goal 5 and 16) and the interagency INSPIRE and RESPECT frameworks. in this Comment, the authors propose "REFER", a five pillar framework to center the importance of safeguarding, with a focus on response planning, in VAC research and interventions.
