Dear VPF Friends,

Welcome to the Violence Prevention Forum newsletter. On a bi-weekly basis we will be sharing job, funding and training opportunities, details for webinars relevant to violence and its prevention, and links to new research and guidelines. We hope you find this a useful resource.

You’re Invited! Engaging Men and Boys to Prevent Gender-based Violence

Join the heCareZA team for a webinar and learn how to use social media to engage men and boys in gender-based violence prevention. The focus of heCareZA is on disrupting the intergenerational cycle of violence and we are mobilising men to have self-reflective and healing conversations with other men through our dialogue facilitation interventions. Thursday, 9 November at 3pm to hear more about the insights and impact that we were able to have in the sector!

You’re Invited! Violence Against Children: The Church’s role to stand in the gap

The violence against children: the church’s role to stand in the gap is a one day conference, raising awareness for violence against children and exploring what churches can be doing. It is hosted Hope Through Unity, a cross denominational movement of churches collaborating to address some of the city’s biggest issues. Over the course of the day, a range of speakers will present, and you will be connected to organizations working in this important space.

Join in on the 9th of November 2023.

Request for Proposals: Community Based Organizations

The GBVF Response Fund is extending an invitation to eligible community based organizations (CBOs) actively involved in the implementation of initiatives that are aligned to the GBVF NSP. The current Request for Proposals (RFP2) encourages a broad spectrum of CBOs to engage in the ongoing efforts to combat GBVF in alignment with the NSP.  We encourage applicants to monitor the GBVF Response Website and social media platforms for any potential adjustments to the RFP. Deadline for submission of proposals is the 15th of November 2023.

You’re Invited! The Municipal Safety Case Studies Project Dialogue!

Inclusive Violence and Crime Prevention Programme invites you to join a dialogue to reflect on the opportunity presented by data and data-driven approaches and demonstrate the value of data in designing and measuring safety programmes. The Municipal Case Studies project will facilitate dissemination and discussion of recent safety practice by local government and its partners, some with VCP participation, and some without, to offer an opportunity to reflect on useful learning on evidence-informed interventions at local level. This project shares case studies that engage with perspectives on aligned implementation of the recommendations of the White Paper on Safety and Security (WPSS) and the National Strategic Plan on Gender-Based Violence and Femicide (NSP GBVF) at local level. Join in on the 29th of November.
