Request for Proposals: Grant Management Partners

 

The GBVF Response Fund is extending an invitation to eligible organizations capable of taking on the role of Grant Management Partners (GMP). Organizations that are working within the gender-based violence and femicide (GBVF) sector and are aligned tot he National Stratgeic Plan (NSP) will be conisdered. 

Closing date for proposals is the 30th of October, 2023.

 

Report Launch: Landscape Mapping of Corporate South Africa: Drawing Commitments to Gender Empowerment (2020-22)

 

The National Business Initiative (NBI)  invites you to join this report launch on the 26th of October. to explore gender empowerment in corporate South Africa. In pursuit of Sustainable Development Goal 5—gender equality and empowerment of women and girls, the  'Landscape Mapping of Corporate South Africa: Drawing Commitments to Gender Empowerment (2020-2022)' report was developed by NBI’s Social Transformation Unit in partnership with Absa. The report’s core focus is the assessment of the 24 top performing JSE- listed companies’ commitment, compliance and progress in advancing women’s empowerment. Gender inclusive themes and indicators were carefully examined while shedding light on these companies’ workplace and societal impact. Registration closes on the 25th of October.

 

You're Invited: GERI LGBTQ+ Healing Across the Gender Spectrum

 

Join the Gender Equity and Reconciliation International (GERI) in collaboration with GenderWorks South Africa for this special LGBTQ+ in-person workshop. This workshop is open to the public and in particular the LGBTQ+ community. A discounted workshop rate is applicable for Non-profit Organisations. The facilitators in this workshop will guide participants through an experiential process in an intimate LGBTQ+ space, weaving together personal refelction, group interaction, experential honouring and focused exercises for unpacking and exploring sensitive issues of gender and sexuality. The workshop will take place from the the 1st to the 3rd of November 2023, at Bertha House in Mowbray.

New Dates: The CRNSA Regional Child Rights Conference

 

The Child Rights Network for Southern Africa (CRNSA) in collaboration with the Government of Botswana will be hosting the Regional Child Rights Conference in Gaborone, Botswana.  The conference will focus on the theme of this conference is “It Is Time To Take Stock Of The Realities Of Children Within The SADC Region.”  A number of aims of this conference include reflecting on the living conditions of children in the region, identify existing gaps within regional, continental and global child rights instruments and reviving and strengthening child rights coordination mechanisms. The Conference date has been changed to the 26th of November to the 1st of December 2023.

Reflections: 17th National Violence Prevention Forum

 

On the 12th and 13th of October, the 17th National Violence Prevention Forum convened at the eMseni Christian Retreat. This gathering brought together nearly 50 participants representing government departments, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), faith-based organizations, as well as provincial and local Violence Prevention Forum (VPF) representatives. The event featured insightful discussions on the challenges posed by national budget cuts, led by representatives from the national treasury.

 

Utilizing the Alternatives to Violence Project methodology, we engaged in workshops to explore various manifestations of violence and its implications within our respective sectors. We examined how we, as individuals, can serve as advocates for non-violence. Throughout our discussions, we delved into the multifaceted impact of violence, ranging from interpersonal and systemic to broader societal dimensions. Take a look at some of the resources we used below.
